The New You Program: * current session in progress *
Diet and exercise do not need to be time consuming; small changes can have a huge impact. Healthy eating can facilitate weight-loss, decrease cholesterol and blood pressure, while improving your overall well-being. Good nutrition and fitness help reduce the occurrence of Low Back Pain, joint pain, and possibly reduce the number of medications you take.
FIT FOR PLAY can help you lose weight and keep it off. You can be a good role model for your friends and family as you improve your lifestyle now and in the future.
We believe healthy living and weight loss is best achieved with the help of a team of healthcare professionals. FIT FOR PLAY is committed to creating a network of doctors, physical therapists, nutritional counselors, and personal trainers to assist you with your long term goals. Our program includes two very important steps which include a complete medical screening and then three months of weekly sessions that will provide you with a reliable and comprehensive resource for meeting your goals.
Step 1: Medical Screening Process
* One hour physical evaluation by a licensed physical therapist from FIT FOR PLAY
* One hour session with Mandy Sergent, our Holistic Health Counselor, to assess your current eating habits and approach to diet
* Instructional session to introduce you to the fitness center equipment
* Optional testing at no extra cost that includes blood work for baseline glucose and cholesterol levels, completed by Centre Health Network, and Body Fat Analysis completed by Mount Nittany Medical Centre
**You do not need a referral from a physician in order to begin our program, however, we may request a referral from your primary care physician if your medical screening results indicate a high risk for beginning a program of this nature.
Step 2: Twelve weekly sessions that educate, motivate, and move you
* 40-60 minute lectures each week concerning relevant nutrition and fitness topics
* Weekly demonstration of new exercises to kick start your workouts
* Walking program and fitness membership to keep you moving between sessions
* In class cooking demonstrations and taste tests
* Handouts that include healthy reminders, weekly goals, and great references
* Complete access to a monitored E-group for 24 hour on-line support from our staff, other group members, and New You Alumni. Also features meal ideas and healthy recipes.
