Success Stories:

"With the FIT FOR PLAY one-on-one therapy approach, I was able to gain a better understanding of how to deal with my back pain on a daily basis. At NO time did my PT say do this exercise and I'll be back in 10 minutes, like most places do. It was a great experience to receive such professional care."

What is Manual Physical Therapy?

Manual physical therapy is a system of evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal and other injuries. This therapeutic approach is based on the assessment of:
* Joints for alignment and mobility
* Muscles across these joints for balance of length and strength
* Coordination of movement of the injured joints and muscles in functional patterns

manual physical therapy

Manual physical therapy is the hands-on treatment of impairments found during the assessment. The goal is to restore the injured area to normal function. Manual therapy is combined with exercise to promote:
* healthy and efficient joint motion
* maximal muscle strength and endurance
* coordination of movement with daily activities and recreational sports

All of our physical therapists at FIT FOR PLAY have advanced training in manual physical therapy, and employ some of the following techniques:
* Joint mobilizations in the extremities and spine
* Myofascial release/soft tissue mobilization
* Manually resisted exercise techniques
* Cross-friction massage
* Muscle energy technique

To maximize the effects of the manual physical therapy, an exercise program will be carefully constructed and taught to the patient. The goal of the exercise program is to reinforce the hands-on work done by your therapist.
